Charolette M. Smith

Recognized as an accomplished hard-coiled basket weaver of pine needles and sweet grass. Basketry is a connection to her past, love of nature, and American Indian heritage. Major honors achieved include the recipient of the fellowship from The Mississippi Art Commission. a Gable Grant from the" Handweavers Guild of America, and designer/creator of the ornaments for the 1999 Mississippi State Tree in Washington D.C.

In addition, Charolette M. Smith has basketry in permanent collections of The Meridian Musuem Of Art and Jacqueline Casey Hudgens Center for the Arts. She regularly competites in art/fiber contest throughout the Unidited States.
