Judith Reeve
Judith Reeve grew up along the Delaware River, not far from Chadds Ford. At age nine, she met Andrew Wyeth. This meeting was a pivotal moment in her life which led to her painting. Later, she studied at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art with Deane G. Keller. Judith began to paint “plein aire” landscapes and was awarded the prestigious John Stobart Painting Fellowship in Italy.
Later, she traveled the West, with trips into the Badlands of South Dakota and deserts of New Mexico. Reeve then spent four years studying Robert Henri’s archives at Yale. Yale then asked her to paint its first Chinese student. A print of the portrait, Yale presented to the President of China where it hangs at the Ministry of Culture in Beijing.
